Possible Peltier Cooling? O/C?

I haven't gotten my I/O yet, but i was just wondering if it was possible to rig up some sort of peltier cooling. could i just connect the power to where the lasanga fan goes or?? it needs a 5/12V current so im not sure. I have read of K6-III's going to 600, if this is possible in the I/O, HELL YEAH!! any info on the limits of this board would be appreciated.

I'm sure you could find a place on the m-board to pick up 5v or 12v.....whatever your peltier needs. However, voltage is not the issue . Current draw (amps) is the problem. You would immediately exceed the current output of the I-Opener power brick...not to mention the other components on the m-board. The only way to safely power this sort of cooler is with an external separate power supply.

The other thing is this: A peltier cooler for the CPU will be of little value to the other components on the M-board that get really hot, some of which get hot enough to melt solder. Severe over-clocking which you suggest, is difficult to deal with, and is made even more difficult by the small size and cramped space of the case. This is not the thing for the faint of heart....or for a beginner. I would suggest thinking twice (or more), before trying such modifications.

If you want to even think about over clocking read my latest post to the topic listed below
with the stock power brick and the way the IO is setup. your never going to get SUPER over clocking on an IO. besides if any one gets an IO running on its own power with MINIMAL mod's to run at 600+mhz they may as well invest the time to see about putting a TFT screen in instead of the SLOW dual scan line lcd. The video chipset will support a TFT 10" screen its more of juat a matter of finding the specs on a screen and what it takes to install one. Chances are prity good it takes only a few wiring changes and maby some resister changes for voltage.

the other major thing would be filling the empty spots on the mother board next to the VIDEO chip and cpu. This is either cache memory or video memory, or both combind.
And the last point is that the video chip. Its based on the BLADE3D GPU. which is a true 3D video card and supports opengl direct3d ect.. We need to find out 100% for shure weather or not the GPU can do the things listed on tridents webpage about the cyberblade 3d video card.
My money is on HARDWARE 3d that is lacking driver support. OR it could just be that the chip's that are missing make is so the 3D features do not work.

Hum I'm off tipic - like ckbone said heh a pieler is prity much out of the question onless you want to use an external power supply.

the pinouts for the video output are in the pdf that is now on free drive, using a dstn display(which we are) requires the use of an external transceiver, by removing said transceiver and wiring a new connection, we can support a 24 bit color TFT. We now have access to all of the information needed to connect a TFT to the IO except for the data on the TFT.

There are a few places here in town (Colorado Springs) where I could pick up a TFT display used, I don't know about new though....perhaps ebay? I'll take a look around and see what I can find.
