| I just bought a new device for use at work, but it could be used by I-Opener hackers to get accurate temperature measurements, without the need for contact. It does so by the means of a laser pointing beam, the temperature recorded at the point of the beam. It is registered on a lcd screen (1x2"). You can get a spot measurement, or a real-time measurement by holding the button down, and moving the beam. It registers in F or C......seems to be very aucurate in that it will get the same reading on a spot from any distance. You, for instance, can open the ram door and measure many interior I-Opener components. With the case open, you could pin-point almost any component. Uses 9v battery....Snapon, $135. I've seen other devices like this, most were much bigger. This is 7"x2". It also doubles as a laser pointer. I'll try to post some temps...I'm curious to see how the temps of some cpu programs compare to real-world tests using this device. | |
