I apologize for this crosspost, but the Websurfer Threads seem to be nearly dead, I'm at the end of my patience, and since many people have IOs and Websurfers.... I'm having trouble flashing my Websurfer bios so I can use a PCI NIC. I keep getting "The file size does not match" error. I've tried several versions of Award Flash, downloaded new bios twice from diversity, and tried the allwell oem bios but still keep getting the same error. I even tried backing up the bios and then flashing what i had just backed up, same error. Could the bios from my Promise ISA IDE controller be causing some kind of conflict??
I got in touch with the original poster of this problem in the Websurfer Technical forum. He had finally gotten it to work, but couldn't remember exactly how. I tried all of his solutions: booting to safe-mode command prompt (shift+f5) and exiting to a command prompt from windows. I've tried about 6 different .bin files and 4 different award flash utility files. Same error. I can't boot to a floppy or cd without a bios update (nice Catch-22). The last option I can think of is to put minimal DOS and flash utilities on the DOC and boot to that. I'm seeing the "The file size does not match!" error message flashing in my dreams. Any other suggestions?
