I'm trying to get a PalmPilot Pro to sync on my IOpener using Windows 98 SE. The hotsync freezes the iopener, and causes an error on the PalmPilot. I've tried two different USB to serial adapters, both of which had the same problem.
The hotsync does actually start, identifies the user, and completes the sync of some items (address book for example). The resulting freeze on the iopener requires a power cycle to restart it.
I've also tried the VIA 4-in-one and USB drivers, to no effect.
Does anyone have any advice?

have you installed the via filter drivers? they claim to enable USB functionality. And they ARE for 95SR2/98/98se/me.

I regularly sync my Sony Clié on my IO with no problems at all. But the cradle is a USB cradle, so it's straight plug-and-play with no serial converstion hassles. I have the cradle and my USB->ethernet adapter plugged into my USB HUB, then into the IO.

I tried the USB filter driver 1.08, to no effect. I've used ethernet, a webcam and a USB hub on my iopener with no problems, it seems like the problem is specific to these serial port adapters.
