I have a V5 IO, that is completely dead. I took some voltage test and so far have

at D15, one end is 19v and the other is 5v
at C257, one end is 5v and the other is 0

at fuse 1, 19v at both ends.

I tried remove CMOS battery, shorting end and replace battery
I tried holding down power button, providing power
I swapped the CPU.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
If you have $100 try W i z z t r o n i c s .com they do a pretty decent job at fixing totally dead I-Openers, but of course $100 is a bit steep.

If your i-Opener was booting up and power was momentarily interupted during the boot process your bios may be corrupted...
Also check and make sure your bios chip is properly seated if you have not done so already.

Cpu voltage correct? Check ram properly seated? Contacts on ram clean? Try using 99% pure denatured alcohol and clean cloth for cleaning...Ground yourself "ESD precautions" before cleaning. (Someone used very fine grit sand paper but I don't really like that idea because one may accidently damage any thin plating on the contacts).

The green indicator light does NOT light up on the power button when I plug in the AC adapter. I believe it is related to the internal power supply circuit. Anybody diagnose a similiar problem?

Curious, if you have $100.00 please don't pay someone (wizz...who) to fix it, you can get another for that price. Also, just because you are getting voltage anywhere doesn't mean your mobo isn't damaged. Can you tell us what lead to the problem? Was it working fine before? Did you spill beer op the keyboard :).....More info would help.

Curious, can you get readings from r60 & r61?

Also, have you removed the ram & re-inserted it recently?
