Well, after 6 months of hacking it is alive running ME, a Toshiba CD, IBM 4 Gig HD and 128Mrg RAM.

But I now see that I need audio inprovements, the CD sure sounds crappy and I really need either VGA or preferably SVGA output.

I will be using the IO for charting on my boat and the stock display is only marginal for these purposes, mostly because the color isnt there and also because of the low resolution though that isnt as much of a problem as the lack of 256 colors which makes the charts hard to read.

Is there a way to add a SVGA output to the box?

Is there anyone running GPS in the serial port? Does it work? I will be using the Captn software and MapTech charts.

Im not sure about the availibilty of WinME CyberBlade7 drivers

Is there any particular reason your runing ME? running either win95(with usb patch) or win98 will make your system run faster (OS not as bloated), and your video will work at 800x600 with 16bit color...

SVGA Output: just wire a monitor connector to the vga outputs on the iopener (goto http://linux-hacker.net for the pinouts)

GPS via Serial Port: Yes this works, as long as you make/buy a tty->rs232 conversion circut. I've seen some people selling them on this BBS, and there are also scematics if you wanna build it yourself.

All are good solutions to my problems. I have the MAX chip and so will be doing the Serial mod to use as an input for the GPS and I downloaded the drivers and will install them as soon as I het the thing back together...I broke the 44 pin IDE connector to the CD today trying to twist things around so now I am looking for a new one. Corpus Christi is a backwater when it comes to technology. When you say "Hi Tech" atound here they think you are talking about the new Ford Model A. Had a guy try to tell me today that the connector was the same as the one used on desktops!
