I have posted pictures and some general text (I will make it more detailed later) of my modifications of my V1 I-Opener with CD, HD, 128 Meg Ram, Turpin case, Badflash BIOS.

You can see them here:

http://www.millennium-falcon.bigstep.com

use the menu on the left to select "Hacking the I-Opener"

a year now that we have been playing with this toy! Can you tell me about the case and CDrom addition?

In an old thread buried in the deep dark confines of this board. A guy developed and built those cases for sale through his website. Most people dismissed them because they added alot of weight to the IO. I'm pretty sure they were steel with a black powder coating of some kind. I'll see if I have the link to the site in my favorites at home.

The case is one of 50 that were manufactuered about a year ago. They are no longer available and I think I got #50, just in time. The case IS steel and black powder coated. It does add some weight to the machine, but not much and it makes the thing stand up, as you see it in the pictures, very nicely with no stand. If there is added weight, I dont notice it.

The fish is a Redfish, member of the Croaker family, Great eating. In fact, that is what I am having for dinner tonight. I needed three pictures and only had two, so stuck that one in to brag about our winter weather.

And, eddavis, what was the comment about "mangled links" about. Didnt they work for you?

The CD Rom is a Toshiba (cant remember the number). Its the one mentioned on just about every thread on this BBS about CD roms.

ckbone, thanks. I've been seeing variants of that drive, and it looks like some have a proprietary connector piggy-backed over a 44 mini-IDE, that can be taken apart to expose the 44.

Regarding the links, yes they worked, but I was going to put the direct link to the io here but the link itself seemed to contain session info and a whole lot of other stuff. Was wondering why that would be set up that way.

Yeah, I saw what you meant and was wondering about that myself. Its done by the people who host the page. I tried a direct link to post to this list but when I saw what it looked like I decided to be safe and post the Mother page and directions instead.
