I-O v5 COM2 Problem.

Hey everyone:

I've searched the BBS for answers to my problem, but I wasn't able to find one. Here goes the description:

I am using r_fl_z's dual RS232 daughterboard on a v5 I-O, but COM2 is not getting any power and is not being recognized. I have two v5's, and both of them have this same problem. I have checked the connections. I think there could be three culprits:

1- The cable connecting the port on the motherboard to the daughterboard
2- The daughtercard
3- The COM port


If anyone has suggestions on fixing this problem, please let me know.

Nevermind. I figured out the problem. The cable was improperly crimped. The entire cable was shifted over one, and so one line didn't have anything connected to it. So, just recrimped it, and it's working.

Which version of the kit did you order ?? I have 2 V5's that are dying for a second COM Port.
Also, does the audio work..??

Glad you figured it out. I crimped a bunch of cables and musta started going blind towards the end. Anyone else has cable problems, let me know and I'll get you out a replacement.

We have about 10 boards left, after that it will be about 3 weeks before we have more.

I bought the Hacker's Special. I haven't done the audio hack to it yet because I don't know where I want to tap into the audio. Any suggestions?

That would be pins 35-36 on the AD1881A. (v5 only)

A search of the posts will produce a thread on the success of this approach.
