Both COM ports in DOS?
Both COM ports in DOS?

Hey all-
I purchased the Hacker Special and it works great in Windows (both com ports work), but my goal now is to boot from San Disk only using DOS. I made San Disk bootable, and did a sys d: on it, and it boots fine. However, only COM 1 works. (I am using this for emulation)

Anyone else come across this, any suggestions?

Thanks.

yerfttam:

Check your BIOS settings to ensure that both serials are set to AUTO. Also, the Power Management wake-up features of the two serial ports must not be totally disabled. As I recall, setting to Secondary works fine, while Primary results in the com port activity preventing the PM from kicking in.

Emulation from DOS on the Sandisk using the dual serial board works great :)

Or you could set your comports to the correct settings

com1= IRQ 4 I/O RANGE 3F8
com2= IRQ 3 I/O RANGE 2f8

This will save you the gues work down the raod so you KNOW what yoru com ports are set to instead of guesing what there running at in DOS under auto.
