Portability

Okay...I've seen lots of discussion here on "possible" portability options and solutions but does anyone have one that actually works? I mean tested and is relatively light weight cause we could all lug a big ass car battery or computer power protector around but that's just not as fun...Are we talking about combining laptop batteries with actually nice cables?...is there a specific one that works?...Or will we have to settle for duct tape and as many AAAs as we can find? I've been looking aorund and thinking about answers for this but i've never seen anything definate...so, once again....anybody got one?

yes the iopener can be made portable, AS for the lightwaight stuff HEHE good luck.

You can construct a battery farly easly PROB is that its got to output 19v at least 2-3000 ma

If you had a bunch of RC rechargable battery's C sided andput them all in series. It would take 16 batteries i believe???

With the proper power supply you could get a few hours worth of power on JUST a battery

No doubt you could do it. Two Thinkpad batteries @9.6v in series probably would work, maybe three or four hours of power. Problem is, these things are expensive....really expensive.

Befor i upgraded to my k6 processor i had a battery pack setup using 2 9.6v RC battery pack's the yellow one's. worked fine with a winchip. for about 45minets with out a fan.

1.3 hours if i used high power saving mode. 1min HD time out and a number of other things. POWERing off the sound card as well. modem that's kind of ON perm.

The only major prob with powering the iopener via batterys is that fact that its got such a high power requrinment.

Reviving an old topic - are any more people attempting this? I am looking at 16 D size NiMH cells from Rat Shack. I believe they are 4500mAH - Total with holders should be about $90. How much "ON TIME" should I expect? Can the current stock wall wort recharge these?

Thanks!
