The answer is, "you don't!". Or at least if you did figure this out, it wouldn't work.

How would you expect it to function, given you don't have iopener service? The iopener software expects to "phone home" to its service, and you don't have an account. And they won't "sign you up" without an iopener...

laserfan is correct, in that the iopener/qnx image itself would likely not be sufficient.

QNX was and may still be a free download, so if you just want the OS itself + voyager browser and you're not afraid to read manuals and configure it yourself ala linux, you should be fine.

But believe me, Grandma ain't gonna figure out how to use a browser to access an URL and log-on to an email account.

The Netpliance service will be declared legally dead after June, and with it the unbridled joy of seeing that Green LED indicate "you've got mail!".

Except for us computer geeks of course who will hack it up. I've decided to hack my Mom-in-law's to Win98, put AOL on it, and give her one of my screennames (don't laugh, I've had an AOL account since their inception and will hang onto it so long as they give us "charter members" the sweetheart deal on access).

Hmm,
Try cloning Thinknic's http://www.thinknic.com Linux onto grandma's machine... it uses netzero... grandma may be happier without paying a monthly service fee

I took a quick look and it is indeed intriguing. Giving away their OS!!! What a concept... Has anyone attempted to load the NIC software onto their IO yet?
