Okay, check this thing out! It is a IDE-to-USB adaptor. This device will let you hook up ANY internal IDE device to a USB port. It includes a 40 pin IDE to USB cable and, here you go, a self-contained 5/12VDC power adapter with a 4 pin molex hook up. This thing could easily power your turbochip 400 and would have a million and one uses for hooking up external devices to your Iopener. You can pick these up at cyberguys for approx 50 bucks. Go to www.cyberguys.com and either search for Item number 131 0855 or go to cables then adaptors/converters and it's the 6th one down. I just sold my I-opener on ebay, so if anyone picks one of these up, drop a post and let us know how it worked!

Do you know how many watts the power supply provides? The Turbochip requires around 24 watts, I couldn't find a self contained PS big enough and I ended up buying a 40 watt from Jameco for $7.95 (part number 172697).

Pretty slick concept though, I haven't seen anything like that type of USB adapter.

But could you boot a hard drive from that? I mean, will the computer recgonize it in the boot up process and run an os of it?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but I don't think the harddrive will boot directly from usb unless the Bios supports usb boot device. Unless I've missed something recently, none of the i-Opener bio's versions support USB Boot.(Yet)
