I switch the cable and it spins up but the bios won't detect it and if i let i try to on boot it says there is none. The hard drive is an IBM travelstar model # DJSA-210 10gb. 06-12-2001 03:25:14

If that does not solve your problem it's possible you may have pulled a little to hard on your cable? Check the connections from the ribbon cable to the connector. Test your harddrive on another working system to verify the harddrive works properly. ALWAYS handle the harddrive by it's edges. Placing pressure in the center of the drive can ruin it! I recall hearing that v3 and earlier had detection problems. try doing a soft reboot after it has tried to detect the drive. It is possible that you have a bad or damaged cable, but it's somewhat more likely that your IO is being uncooperative. 06-12-2001 06:16:48

I have tried all kinds of ways to boot it and it will not detect it. I think it is a v2 or v1. It had a winchip 180 thats been upgraded to a winchip 2 200. still 32mb ram. I think, on some IBM drives, you will need to Enter the drive specs...they just won't autodetect.. but, they will work... 06-12-2001 20:07:07
