New Video Driver
Any Possibilities here?

There are three different ones listed here...I tried SP13606 on Win98SE. Loaded just fine, but I don't see any improvement yet. The memory tab is not shown, and it defaulted to 2meg. On a Compaq Presario 7470, this same driver runs with 4 or 8megs...selectable in the BIOS. It's only using 2megs here....too bad. Maybe someone can try the other two...they're big downloads, 13mb+. I'm going to see if there's an update on the MS site. Try them with caution...backup....they're designed for the mentioned Compaq. If this link doesn't work, you can find them on the Compaq support site.

ok...to use this link, select 7400 series, then select the 7470 model, eventually you find the driver page. These drivers work on the I-Opener (the one I tried anyway) because this Compaq model has the same video chip as the I-Opener, as well as the same VIA chipset. Apparently the driver configures itself differently for the two computers....in I-Opener properties, there is an LCD tab....on the Compact that setting doesn't show up. I do know this about this driver.....it still won't play DVDs, even on the Compaq using 8megs. No hardware support on the chip and I cannot get any software player to work either. There is a possibility that the Compaq drivers may bring improvements...in game playing, for instance. There is another driver on the driver list, the newest that has support for all OSs. I'll try it next. There is a possibility here that these Compaq drivers may be beneficial....a new BIOS for instance, could allow support for 8megs of video memory........

I just want to see the regesters that enable the 3D to be enabled. Also i do wonder if the missing cache chip could have any thing to do with the 3D???? dont think so but who knows could???
