Sound Troubles - rs-232 - Help!

I am building CD listening stations for my record store, and am almost finished!

I have hacked 2 I-Openers, V1 & V4, I believe.

V1 has rs-232 board, touch screen, USB ethernet.
V4 has rs232 board, no TS yet, and USB Ethernet.

Here's the prob (and hopefully I am just being a dumbass...):

V1 - Sound comes out of speakers, but not audio jack from rs-232 board.
V4 - VIA drivers installed for audio, asks for yamaha drivers, but no device manager errors. Sound doesn't some out of speakers or audio jack.

So basically, I have my CD Listening stations ready to go pretty much, except the damn sound don't work. I have searched the BBS, and found a few references, especially V4 sound, but the damn V1 should work, as far as I can see...

here's some clarification questions for me:
1- Audio jack is Grd-Outer Sleeve, and then audio on the tip and ring, yes? Grd sticks out of the side and lft/rt are together...
2- Rs-232 board doesn't need both chips for the audio part? I only have one chip installed for one com port, but have cable from board to I-op connected.
3- rs-232 audio is just a connection, and needs nothing besides the cable to the I-op, yes?

Should I switch to Parallel Ethernet, and USB sound?

This has been a super-long term project, and I spent months on the Touch Screens, when the damn controllers were screwed... My frustration is getting super high now, since I am so close to putting them into operation.

I will post pictures once I get them in and operational.

Thanks in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Let Me Guess........
You are doing More than Listening to Music, While You Hack !!!

How do You think The Sound is getting to the Components,
You Don't have installed on the RS232 board ???
For a few Hints, Find My 1st post in this Thread
(7th Post, not the 9th)

Oh, & I don't think You should install any Drivers for Yamaha Sound,
I think I made this Mistake the First time around.
It's been a long time since I did a software build on an I-Opener.
I had to Start over with a New Clean build.

Hopefully, Someone who has done this RS232 Hack
with Optional Sound will Reply !

Good Luck, * StarFish *

I think I have decided to go with the Labtec LCS-1040 USB Speaker solution, which comes with a volume control and headphone jack on it, saving me some possible extra work. This will require a USB Hub, so we'll see what happens with problems there...

Screw the damn on-board sound...

I aplod thiee LOL, to sum it up, the onboard sound mod on the dual rs232 system. IS ONLY connected to the POWER. You have to solder a bunch of cables to make the sound work.
that is wires from cetain parts on the main board of the IOPENER'S sound chip, to the audio hack on the dual rs232 board. as to the audio, the spots you solder to are diffeent for the different sound chips. If you got a yamaha sound chip you solder by that chip. If you got the non yamaha sound chip you have to solder else where. The dual rs232 and sound combo thing as i said befor, its only affilation with the dual rs232 thing is the power wires thats all. its not a plug it in and go system. nore is my solo updated audio hack! DID you get a printed instruction with pictures or waht ever on how to wire up the mod? Oh speakin of that version audio hack on the dual rs232 is not realy designed for the non yamaha sound chip eather.

from the point your at sounds like its a better bet to JUST go with the usb sound, besides your missin out on a good part of your dynamic range. The standed Opamp hack with out speical MOD'S is missin a good portion of its dynamic range.(thats due to only running on 5 volts) There are some trick hacks to get around that but the best one is to just use a 12volt LVR straight from the iopeners 19v PSU. thats a 12volt LOW POWER power supply REGULATOR. Also the opamp hacks are software vol. controled ONLY.

sounds like your better off anways with the USB audio adapter.

Other wise I'v got a second usb port, My own speical audio hack, my own serial hack, the dc-dc and a bunch of other things. My latest add on's are the latest 5v bios, and hard drive speed fix. the HD speed fix is amasing considerin Iv got a 12gig udma 66 hard drive :) . The bench marks befor and after are mind boggling.
