I-Opener San Disk image repository using dolly... and drivers...

New MessageI-Opener san disk image repository (modified 0 times) Garfield

Hello fellow I-Opener power users

does any one know of a repository of I-Opener images with the original QNX, jailbait, etc, etc, etc installations in dolly format, on-line for download?

if we could put together a thread with links to all the images and drivers for the i-opener in one place that would be great.

Thank you.

and happy holidays!

I'm going to be making an image of the ISP selectable SANDISK after the holidays. I'll post back here as well as in the original thread ("HELP" by TOSK in the general info section) the location of it.

Might want to include the QNXFlash 1.02 Sandisk image in this repository, for history's sake.

I have a few untouched v2 QNX images, and one untouched v3 QNX image, if you guys do set up an archive for them.

sounds good wild,

if anyone has a v1 qnx image, let me know...

I have some web space that i am willing to share for the time being until the sys admins bitch... this will be a private collection that I will share with other I-Opener owners.

if you wish, post a link here or e-mail the file to me at mmorton <at> charger <dot> newhaven <dot> edu

Hi,
I just got another I-opener. It's a pristine V5 with the selectable isp. Ok, I have 98se on one machine and Mandrake 8.0 on another. Problem is, I'm just now learning linux. So what do I do make an image of the os with? Anyone know a good book on Linux-Unix for a beginner? ;-P !!

Ragnar: Creating an image is pretty easy. No linux required, just DOS. Copy Dolly to a directory on your Win98 hard drive. Get a copy of Dolly here. Swap your BIOS chip with the one from your Win98 i-Opener and hook up your hard drive on the V5 macine (now you can boot from the V5). Boot to a DOS prompt. Go to the Dolly directory and enter:

dolly hd129: v5_image.img

This will create the file "v5_image.img" which contains the image of the SanDisk.

I don't think that I left out any steps. If this procedure doesn't work, send me an email and I'm sure that we can figure it out.

Thanks.

Gang,
I now have an image of the selectable isp operating system. But I am on a land line modem that at the best of times barely gets above 33k speed. (Last night I got connected at 40k, but the planets must of been right). I am sending Glitch a copy on cdrom by snail mail. I will make a couple more copies, but only send them to someone who can post them to a website for everyone to download, if they want. :) My email is listed somewhere on this board.

Where can you get an image from between now and when your archive of I-Opener san disk images comes available?

I've tried numerous times to get at the freedrive copy.. but that never seems to work. In the meantime I'm busy searching this board for other links, but havn't found any yet.

Thanks in advance

I have received the images from Ragnar. I have uploaded the dolly image to here:

http://briefcase.yahoo.com/iopener_v5_img

I've also put a small set of tools to verify, extract and burn the image in the tools folder.

I have not loaded the image on to an i-Opener yet. YMMV.

Glitch, it looks like you'll need a new host. The Yahoo! Briefcase says it's disabled.

Hmmmm....

I wonder if these is a "download limit" on these accounts? Something must have tripped a flag somewhere. I've used this type of account several times and never had this happen. They did not send me a nastygram of any sort. Hopefully, the account will reset itself tomorrow.

I'd be happy to upload the files to an alternative site. I don't have access to anything better than Yahoo at the moment. The story may be different once I get through my ISP transition. However, that is not suposed to happen until the middle of Feburary.

I'm open to alternative suggestions.

IIRC, there is, but it will just tell you to come back later.

Let's hope it's not a locked account, but if it is, you could try setting up a new account, and changing the directory and file name to something innocuous.

/Dev/
Code5.img

Or something similar.

I just checked the account and it seems to be up. What probably happened is that everyone tried to download the files at the same time. This may have triggered an automatic lock. Hopefully, the "rush" was a one time only thing and this won't happen again. What might help is for only those who plan to try the image right away download it right away. If you aren't going to try the image for a while, wait a while before you download it.

OK. I've been reading the posts about writing the image to a HD and booting off that,
so I'm prettysure I did it right. Booted into linux dd'd IMAGE.IMG to /dev/hda,
used the cable from my other iop to hook the drive up...and
boot disk failure.
I've got a gooped bios, and the sans-serifed i-Opener boot image, so I'm guessing V2.

Any ideas on whats wrong?

Assuming the bios has not been flashed..

Connect the 2.5" to the I-opener, and turn on. Press TAB several times to reveal the BIOS information. Make sure the BIOS detects your drive as primary slave, and that the SanDisk is not detected. If this is not the case, turn off the I-opener and change the jumper setting on the hard drive before you power up again. Once the BIOS only has detected your hard drive correctly, press ctrl-alt-esc on the keyboard to enter the BIOS.

In the first menu, change the primary master IDE drive to NONE, and the primary slave to USER. For the USER drive, manually set 490 cylinders, 2 heads, 32 sectors. In the next menu, set the boot order to D, A, SCSI.

Save the settings and reboot.

If that doesn't work, try the Dos & dolly method.

Ragnar, or Glitch FYI:

That copy of the V5 selectable ISP you've got up still has e-mail & e-mail addresses in the mailbox.

You might want to dupe the image onto a HDD, remove the info, and then repost.

kudzu,
You obviously got the image to work. Those emails belong to the person that I bought that I-opener from. Someone from New York. He no longer has that particular email address. I looked at them, but they were mostly un-interesting.

Ragnar, I posted about it due to this reply of yours.

Pristine does not equal used. From your post, it sounded like you were the only owner, and were it me, I would have preferred not to have my information be made publically available.

But that's personal preference.

He no longer has that particular email address. I looked at them, but they were mostly un-interesting.

Yes, but I'll wager his addressees would hate to find them mis-used, or spammed, hence my post.

Kudzu,
You're welcome... wait a minute... Sweet JAYSUS, but some people just don't appreciate the trouble that some of us go to help people on this board. The copies of that image was made and sent at my expense. Nobody offered to pay for the cd or shipping. Oo la. Enjoy.

Screwed up the link. It should be http://ITResource.com/V540.bin

I also created a zipped version http://ITResource.com/V540.zip

The zipped version is about 1/2 the size of the bin version...Of course, please download the zipped version if possible.
