Hey.. i'm just starting , and i have one of the first iopeners. it's been sitting on my shelf for ages and i finally decided to crack it open.. the problem is i can't crack it open for one reason or another... i've taken all the screws off, popped the sides, but it seems that the whole inside is bolted to the stand on the back. i've made some nice dents in it trying to pry it open.. what am i doing wrong? (i have the 'gray' version)

thanks

Remove the stand from the back first.

Use either a T-8 sized torx screwdriver, or bit, or alternately you could try a flathead Jewlers' screwdriver (the kind they sell at radio shack) If there are no torx bits, or Radio Shacks in your area...Tsk, Tsk.

lxixe,
This is not a slam but...
I think you better leave the hack to someone more experienced...

PUH-LEASE, O2U2, this is not a slam but...
Just because someone has a problem getting the thing open is no reason to suggest the hack is not for them. Perhaps you've gotten spoiled finding things the way you want in dumpsters and forgotten that part of the fun of doing hacks is learning new things.

My apologies lxixe,
I work in a big corporate heavy aircraft repair shop and lately been under the gun to keep up with deliveries. I've been just a bit grouchy...I deal with a LOT of folks there that just seem so... Retirement @55 (9 more years)

inx3us,
You are so right.
That's why I go Dumpster diving. About 80% of my computer technical skills have been self learned this way.
I'm constantly learning and keeping up with newer technology and mostly for free (Less the cost of gas and my time). I just recently repaired a Jornada HP548 and this was my first repair on a PDA and very successful one! About 2 hours invested and $250 bucks richer, Sold it today!

That's why I post my Divin' finds, offering a very cheap alternative to learn for those interested! (One has to set aside there pride though)

Dag, Man! You take all the fun out of sarcasim when you graceously admit error and apologize. If everyone acted like that it would kill 90% of flames in their tracks.
Bravo! Good Sir!
;)
