Okay, so I should finally get my I-O in a couple days now (thanks to ebay, sjbglobalnet, and 66 bucks.) And I think I've decided to go with an external harddrive case with it's own power supply, I may also add a removable drive-frame to this setup, but that has nothing to do with this.
Anyhow I am concerned about how to avoid picking up noise or letting any out from cutting the shielding. My current theory is to either cut a ' [ ' shape in the shield big enough to pass the IDE connector through and then bend it back OR to cut two small slits perpindicular to an edge where the shield contacts the MoBo and bend it just enough to allow the IDE cable to pass through comfortably.
Also. What would be a good place to mount and external connection to this cable (parrelel or SCSI style) prefurably w/out losing the existing parallel port. I haven't recieved my I-O just yet so I'm not able to take a closer look for myself.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
