I just got an i-opener off of ebay and opened it and up and noticed that the cpu is a "Rise MP6 at 200mhz. Does anyone else have this, it is not the normal winchip is it? I have not emailed the seller yet but wanted to see what you guys said first.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this is a v5. The rise cpus were a "more" standard socket7 cpu. These are the IOs people were dropping k6-2+s in. I'm pretty sure they have dip switches for voltage settings.
All V4's and V5's come with the Rise chip. Don't know about V3's. Look just above the memory socket and see if it has a dip switch. If it does, it will have 2 switches. If you have one of these then it's a drop in upgrade for an AMD k6 of any flavor. Happy hacking.
The voltage requirements will determine is they are usable. If I recall correctly, the switch has 2.0V, 2.2V, 2.4V and 2.8V settings. Socket 7 of course.
One more question, where can i get an imod3? When i went to the ordering faq http://www.linux-hacker.net/imod/orderFAQ.html it says to order from badflash. But i say nothing about the imod3 on badflash's website.
