Gang,
What's everyone favorite way to set up a home network? I have one desktop and two iopeners that I would like to set up in a network, with the main purpose being internet sharing. My criteria would be cheap, fast, and ease of instalation. Any ideas?

I used WinGate for ver 1 thru 4 .. but, I finally switched to Sygate, its just Simple, and it Works..

I Don't like msft ics ... just seems like they took _another program, and, dummyed it down to a barely working program, :)

I use a 5-port Linksys 10/100 switching hub, with all the computers connected to it, and a cheap-o linux box with 2 NICs also connected. Obviously if you don't have broadband, you won't need the 2nd NIC. But you can setup PPP to auto-dial and run as a router. Any machine will do, including an i-Opener! :)

I have a mostly windows network. I use a LinkSys 4 port router. My cable modem plugs into the WAN port and the PCs plug into the 4 local ports (with hub/switches it can support 254 clients). This system works quite well. The router even has DHCP built in (though Im not using it). I think they are around $70 at www.buy.com.
