Windows CE on Flash Disk - Terminal Server?

Can it be done?

How about make I-Openers into simple Windows CE terminal server clients for Citrix or something, with just the 16MB flash disk?

I tried to search for anything about Windows CE on the board and didn't find anything much.

Has this been tried?

No hard drive. No Fan. USB Ethernet? Parallel Ethernet?

Could be a fine fine Citrix Terminal Server for less than $100!!!

HELP ME IF YOU CAN!!!

Thanks,
phreak23

Bill Gates and his lawyer buddies take a dim view of anyone hacking their "intellectual property". There may be some people playing with it, and probably hacking it for the fun of it, but I doubt that anyone who has will post it publically.

It can be done in Linux, totally free. No need to pollute and encumber your IOpener with Microsoft Code.

What you're looking for a program called "rdesktop", and it runs quite nicely on most IOpener-Linux distribution that includes XWindows and drivers for your USB or Parallel network adapter. I've used rdesktop with Jailbait6 and Midori 0.93, and have been very pleased with the results -- often running it for 4 hours at a time without a crash.

The latest Beta versions of rdesktop are compatible with Win2000; and even though the author claims the betas aren't fully stable, I use them regularly. Just don't count on them in a mission-critical environment. (It's still "Beta" after all.)

Unless someone's bundled a pre-compiled version into the latest Midori snapshots, you'd need a separate Linux machine to compile rdesktop, and then ftp the binary into the IOpener.

I have gotten Jailbait onto the IO, and booted from it... I am waiting for some Linksys USB adapters...

Has anyone gotten a touchscreen to work with Jailbait??? I am looking into Linux Drivers, so it should be possible... I am not very Linux proficient... I found some references to TouchwareDrivers for XFree86 3.x and 4.x... Since Jailbait is Lem, and Lem uses XFree86 3.x, then this should be easy right? Simply change the XFree86Config to contain info about the device and then load the module onto Jailbait??? Anyone used Metro-X, which has drivers for Touchscreens, as well as a calibration tool...

WOW... Now all I need to do is figure out how to get Citrix on there... Which should be easy... I think....

Any thoughts or hints...

What about wireless ethernet support?
