Hey, read a post about opening the Iop and it said to use a Torx T8 to remove the stand bracket from the back of the unit. Unfortunalty I had no luck, does anyone know of the right Torx bit to use for sure? I have a i-opener 2001 model no. NO1000.

Also, the place I bought it from said that it was a new unit, however there was some cached webpages and a user already set up. is that normal? thought it might be some sort of demonstration setup or default, but the box was a bit dinged for "new." Got it on ebay and want to know if I should post negative feedback.

ravyne:

to get the stand mount off, use a small jeweler's screwdriver with a hardened tip. radio shack has a set of them.

put the tip between the screw center pin and one side of the hex. the screws are like allen screws except there is a pin in the center to keep out standard allen wrenches.

the screws are anti-tamper like what you may find on your cable tv box, except smaller.

torx bits long enough to fit down to the screw are hard to find

the screw is into soft plastic and is easy to turn once you get a screwdriver inserted.

if you are satisfied with what you bought for the price you paid, what difference would negative feedback make?

The screw is #8 tamper-proof torx. (T8) You can get the correct driver for it from a Mac tool man. Mine cost $16. These screws have loc-tite on the threads, so they can be very difficult to remove. Also...they don't screw into plastic. They go through the plastic case and screw into a metal backing plate that is riveted to the aluminum inner shield. If you do strip one out with the regular screw-driver method, you're in deep s***.
