I know theI-op isn't a gaming machine but I'm looking to see what kind of performance the I-op gets running Quake2 under linux on an overclocked I-opener. Ideally it would be a 450 k6-2 and 128 megs of ram. If someone could give me a good framerate estimate(or exact) it would be appreciated. Please include your system details (speed, ram) and distribution. This is for a fun little side project I'm thinking about using the I-op mobo for. Thanks to anyone who can help.Ravyne

RE:Quake2 performance on OC'd I-op running linux? (modified 0 times)
This seems... odd. The iop is an okay platform for running the Quake engine, and I certainly applaud the concept of using a cluster of iop's as Quake game platforms, but... the passive LCD screen makes something as fast as Quake really impossible to play. You need very fast screen updating in order to duck that rocket that someone just lobbed your way.
The iop would be the perfect quake cluster machine if not for its screen, alas.

Very true, but I never said I would be using the I-op screen ;) If you'd like another hint as to this mysterious project of mine, lets just say that it would only need to run at around 320x240 resolution. Kinda sounds just about right for most TVs don't you think? =) If I get some more useful info I'll maybe even put everything out in the open.Ravyne
