What happened to my mouse???
Tech question

I finally got my hacked i-Opener on the internet via a D-Link USB NIC. Yea! I then proceeded to the Microsoft website (mistake #1) and downloaded some updates to my Win98 OS (mistake #2). Of course I had to reboot, and when it did, my mouse no longer works. They keyboard works fine, but if the mouse and keyboard are plugged into the splitter at the same time, it won't boot! The mouse and keyboard work fine on other computers, the splitter works fine on other computers, and the keyboard plugged directly into the i-Opener works too.
Anybody else experience this?
Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Glendor...

Have you tried reversing the mouse/keyboard connections on the splitter? In other words, plug the mouse into the connector marked "keyboard" and vice versa.

I apologize if you knew this already, but it's been established (in VERY old threads, like in the first week of I-Opener BBS history) that the I-Opener is wired backwards that way. I seem to remember I had similar issues until I switched them.

I'm going to kick my OWN a$$ if it turns out to be something that simple. I definately did NOT try to reverse the cables, but I will tonight. Thanks for the advice.

Kick! Ouch!!! Kick! Ouch!!!

Get the picture?

Thanks for the advice. Swapping the keyboard and mouse plugs worked. I don't know how I managed to get it to work in the first place. I must have been lucky to accidentally mix the plugs the first ten(!) times I used it, but after the upgrades, I must have started paying attention, and thus got into trouble.

Thanks again.

Oh, please, don't kick yourself too hard. Probably the last time that reverse Y-cable fact was even mentioned was sometime in 2000. I've noticed lots of recently posted questions that are things answered so long ago, we've all but forgotten.

Once I offered to build a former boss's son's desktop system if they'd buy the components. I spent four hours and no boot. Took it back to the dealer, turns out the power supply was set to 240v instead of 120v. Never so stupid have I felt.
