>>does it have to be a laptop hdd?<<
Yes, preferably the 9mm height size, to fit inside the IOpener.
>>I have a convertor for laptop-to regular ide.<<
Use that to connect a laptop drive to your desktop computer's IDE drive port.
That's where you can copy the setup files, for installing the operating system, once the drive is put back in the IO.
You'll then need a special IOpener HD connector.
>>What else do I need to do to get this puppy running?<<
A PS2 "Y" adapter, so that both a mouse and keyboard can be attached.
This keyboard is: L: 11-3/8" W: 5-5/8"
http://www.mpja.com/product.asp?product=12443+KB
Attach the keybard (on the "Y" adapter) to the side labelled "mouse", and attach the mouse to the side labelled "keyboard".
The stock IO keyboard doesn't have an "esc" key, which is needed to get into bios setup.
>>Do I need to replace the BIOS Chip in order to add a HDD? If so where do I get one?<<
It's possible to flash upgrade the necessary bios instead of physically replacing it. Search the forum for "QNX Flash".
Or else purchase a bios chip from badflash.com. If the existing bios chip has Goop on it, you'll probably run into problems.
>>I added a socket 7 fan it sticks out a bit, but I just cut the case and it sticks out the back, but works like a champ. Of course I had to hook it to my Computers Power to get it running :)<<
A fan that runs off the IOpener's power is here: www.tennmax.com.
