Hey, somewhat new to IO just got one 2 weeks ago. Have read back through the archives as best I could, so I'm sure that's cut down on a lot of my questions. In any event here's what I have:

I believe my IO is version 3B (that's what the stickers on the inside of the unit say), I have the Rise 266 CPU (?) and the default 32 megs of ram (even though the stick looks like a 64, oh well). I got my hands on the special IDE cable (connect the 2 center rows), a low clearance CPU fan, and a PS/2 splitter. Questions follow:

1) I have a P-233MMX CPU (even though the "33" is XX'ed out on the back of the CPU, old counterfit maybe? LOL) and was wondering if it was a drop-in replacement for what's in there now. I'm NOT good at soldering in any way, shape, or form so that's out of the question for now.

2) What's the best bios to flash on this thing (and where do I get it, preferably free?), how do I know what version of the bios I curently have, how do I flash on the machine (I don't have any mobos I can put the chip into to flash it) and what's this V1 and V2 of the Sandisk? Guess no matter how much I read on those I was never quite clear on the above questions/procedures.

3) Mine did not come with a power supply, is there a list of compatible power supplies started somewhere? I have found that a Dell laptop power supply (Dell p/n 55522) for the Inspiron 3000 series (maybe others) works perfectly.

4) Been pulling my hair out trying to find the right screws for the stand, I'm not putting those stupid security torx screws back in. I thought I saw somewhere someone said 2.5mm screws x 8mm long, but no hardware store in my area (either big chain or small) has anything that small, and I've already got 2 screws stuck in the RF sheild now that I was trying to match up (the heads came off and now I need to try to drill them out!) My other thought was attempting to just bolt the stand to the rear plastic assembly somehow, not sure how I'd do that either.

Ok hope that's not too many questions, and before anyone harps about them being answered before, believe me I *did* search and either I did not find my answers or I did't understand and I'm dense :) Thanks in advance.

GlassVial: Machine screws can be used to attach the back of the (plastic) case to the stand. I think that I used 6-32x3/8". The heads of the screws go inside the case. The threads will go into the stand.

This works well if you are going to be tweaking the machine. You don't need to have the install the RF shield to put the machine back together. A few screws are needed to attach the LCD to the front of the case. The front of the case will then simply snap onto the back. I usually put a few screws to attach the front to the back to be sure that it doesn't fall off accidentally.

Hi GlassVial,

For screws, try www.smallparts.com. They are all 2.5mm screws. I think I was using 2.5x6 for most
purposes, and 2.5x8 to hold the stand in place. But there is plenty of room to bump it up a size
(x8 and x10).

Also, that dinky screw next to the power connector is a 2x4mm guy, in case you lose it.

If you only need a couple, drop me a note at steveplatt@comcast.net.
