It has an Atapi interface.... however .....
a strange connector..
called a JAE KX15-50KLD. Can anybody offer any assistance here. Thanks in advance..

fgiurleo:

now you found the joy of buying sight unseen.

is this 'strange connector' mounted to a plastic or metal housing attached with screws to the metal teac case? if so, you may find a laptop size ide connector when you take off this metal housing.

if this strange connector is mounted directly to the circuit board in the cd rom, you will need to go looking in some catalogs of the big electronics suppliers like Digikey for the connector, but you will still need to find the pin-out diagram for this connector. it may be atapi (ide) interface, but what is the pin-out?

was it removed from a laptop by the seller or was its source unknown? if it was removed from a computer, and you know what brand, you may be able to get the pin-out diagram from them.

i suggest checking if you can get your money back on a return or write it off as a loss if you do not want to go to all that work.

stand by for other replies,

FYI, Their are 2 types of these connectors commonly available 44 pin and 50 pin c/t the ribbon cable side. I believe you want the 50 to 44 pin.

I've used Baber before. Just give them a call, don't bother with their online form. I got good service when I called, and no response with the form.

Just ordered one from www.phethean.com. It was $20 + shipping. Sure hope it's the right one, but they were where Badflash said to go.

Oh i could kiss you guys, BIG BIG KISS. I'v spent months trying to find one of these adapters, cause I have the teac cd-224e cdrom as well. Was going to put a POS 6x slimline in but would much rather use this 24x cdrom
