Has anyone ever hacked the solder bridge jumpers on a Mitsumi laptop (slimline) cdrom? There's a little paper label thing on the back, peel it up and there's a square hole maybe 1/2"x1/2". I can see 4 pairs of solder pads, but it's not clear which is which. I only see a "M" and a "C", no "S", and neither letter is really directly opposite a pair. One pair seems to be bridged (except it's something black) and it's the second one from the top. The "M" is near it, so I'm thinking that's the master jumper. And that's what the drive acts like -- as if it's jumpered master instead of slave. When I put it on a cable with my HD jumpered master it won't boot. When I take out the HD and just have the cdrom and the sandisk, it boots up and jailbait says it's hda.
BTW, I'd never buy anything made by Mitsumi again. Their tech support refuses to give me any info at all -- "It's OEM, call the laptop manufacturer." | |
