i recently purchased a thin cooling fan supposedly used with the iopener 5 model but the pins that it takes are alot smaller than the regular pins for the fan, in fact, theyre exactly like the pins that the speaker hooks up to, but when i hook it up and take out the speaker it doesnt start up when i turn on the iop... does any one know whats going on?

The fan will not run off of the sound port. Period! It is max 2 volts. you need at least 5

I attached mine to the headers near the CPU. There should be a small set at the 10'oclock direction from the CPU. I believe the center set of pins is +5 and gnd (+5 is on the cpu side of the headers.)

vestus, ive looked for those pins at 10oclock from the cpu, but the only ones i found were
as big as the ones that im already using for my noisy fan (down by the RAM) i need pins that are small like the ones for the speakers, but as mentioned above, at least 5volts...and right now im not even sure if those exist on the mother board

I'd suggest you move on to the soldering iron then.

That little connector for the fan does look like it would fit on the speaker connector, but that is not where it goes. There are a set of pins ( I think 5) just below and slightly to the right of the CPU. The first set of pins needs to be squeezed together just a little so that the connector will fit. The RED connector goes on the INSIDE pin. I have a picture. Is there some way I can send it to you?
