This is my third IOpener. My two V1 works great, but my V5 will not initilize the sound in Win98SE!
I have installed every variant of the sound driver for the AD1881A.
I have installed both 68mu111a.exe and 68mu111b.exe from the www.viarena.com sire with no luck.
I have successfully installed the Hyperion Via 4 in 1 drivers and the Trident Cyberblade i7 drivers with out a hitch. The USB is working great too.
I am running 64mb, 6 gig hdd, and a Intel P200MMX processor (wanted stable over anything else)with V540 bios.
I have deleted EVERYTHING from the device manager in safe mode and let EVERYTHING re-detect and still no luck.
The onboard audio is enabled in the bios, but win98se will just not kick in the support (looks like it works in the device manager, but then I goto the media setup, it doesnt acknoledge a soundcard:(
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could be doing wrong?
(Please excuse any misspelling, I never could spell:) )

Try turning off the sound in the bios, I think Windows needs to do its own thing independent of the bios. Also search the bbs for "no sound" and you can find some help.

use the sound driver in the via 4-in-1, NOT analog devices sound drivers.

have fun,

I have installed both 68mu111a.exe and 68mu111b.exe from the www.viarena.com site with no luck.
As I said before, has anyone here had the same problem? The regular 4-in-1 drivers did not make it work, and I used the older file like a bunch of messages on here have said to, still with no luck, should I reload the os?

sorta off and sorta on subject.
I am getting ready to re-load an OS on my IO. I cant get w2k to install beyond the first reboot as it goes into "boot from cd" of the "smartboot" and starts to install again. I was trying to put 98 on my hdd via format> then making a folder for Win98 and moving over the cd files. When I put the hdd in my IO it comes up with either "non system disk" or "missing NTLDR". Would someone be interested in getting my hdd ready to stick in my IO and go? I would provide the OS and my hdd and cover shipping. ... anyone?

If you have the correct drivers loaded the problem is nearly always the IDE driver being selected for 2 channels vs. just a single. The IO only can handle 2 ide devices, but the driver is too stupid to default to that. You need to go into the device mangler and select the IDE driver and select just a single IDE channel vs. 2.

I re-installed win98se and updated the drivers.
The speaker now poppes up to control volume and nothing has ! by it but I still dont hear anything from the machine.
I tested if i broke something by letting it load the os from the san disk, still works, just not in win98se:( I used the drivers from via 4in1 from www.viaarena.com

Any ideas?!?
