I am using iopener v5 with badflash 5.40a. I took out the Rise mp6 processor out and put a Pentium 200 mmx in it. It detected the processor and it booted up. However, after running for about 10 minutes, I rebooted the unit and right after briefly seeing the win98 logo screen, the unit rebooted itself repeatly. So I went back to the Rise processor and it works fine after that. Note that I didn't put any solder mods or anything like that.
Another note, I am just curious if the Rise mp6 266 processor is faster or slower than the Pentium 200 mmx. Thanks.

RE:iopener v5 can't work with Pentium 200 mmx? (modified 0 times)
I believe that along with the CPU, there are modifications to the motherboard that are specific to the Rise and WinChip. Someone may be able to correct me (I've been wrong before) but I don't believe that the CPU are interchangable without additional motherboard mods.

I switched a 200MMX Pentium for the Rise in a v5 with no problems, as it had the same 2.8v core voltage. However, you may have heatsink issues as the heatsink has a depression of the right size for the Rise but too small for the MMX. Thermal paste might help. In my case I had a Lasagna fan installed instead of the heatsink.

I don't think a VCore mod is necessary because both the rise mp6 and pentium mmx 200 has the same vcore of 2.8v. I used a lasanga fan too but I didn't use any thermal paste. Probably the Pentium mmx draws more power from the motherboard than the rise mp6. If I am not mistaken, the Pentium mmx is made of .35 micron process where as the rise mp6 is made of .25 micron process. Another thing I can think of that the rise mp6 processor is running at 100 mhz bus (100x2) and the pentium mmx is running at 66 mhz bus (66x3.) I guess I have to download CPUID to find out.

I put a mmx200 in a v3, what I found is that the voltage is very criticle. I couldn't get it to post if the voltage was anywhere below 2.7 volts(factory specs).
