If you update the bios, you can boot from a bootable CD and then update it with an image contained on the CD. I know of no way to make the ports talk to anything unless they are already hacked.
You would need a standard CD drive as it will have to connect to the IDE pins with a modified cable (the pins are mirror image). Also will need an external power supply for the 5 and 12 volts. Cannot boot through USB.
