I got my hands on an I-Opener V3a or 4 not sure on version,but any who :) updated the bios chip 540a and mod 44pin IDE cable . I installed the hard with Dos,Dolly, jailbait6, enter the bios ..........which found my harddrive and sandisk...ok. My question is, are any step to prep my sandisk for the install of Jailbait like (fdisk,format,)?What bios setting for booting sandisk only (LBA,Normal,cylinders, heads,sectors?

Sorry if this a lame Q (newbie)

I don't know about jailbait but for dos you have to use a partition manager like Ranish
and make the scandisk active,128 ( fdisk will not do two drives active). The bios settings is auto for the drive and boot sequence is "C only".

Jailbait has not been updated in awhile. Check this site for "Midori" for the i-opener version. Some has taken over the project and made many updates.

I used fdisk in win98 with no problem to repartition my sandisk. You should beable to use DOS. The sandisk is partition as a "nondos" partition. All 3 partitions on the sandisk need to be removed. Then repartition as a DOS drive and write the image.

Ok I fdisk and formated the sandisk and set it as active using Ranish. Also tried many diff steps to boot from sandisk (in the bios) . Any setting in bios for the sandisk like(User LBA,Normal,cylinders, heads,sectors) ?

The bios only needs to be AUTO (no heads, cyls,or anything).As long as the Hard Drive is hooked up the Scandisk will be drive D. Remove the HD and the Scandisk will be C. Using Ranish an active drive will be type 128 all others will be 129. If you remove the HD and can't boot because it says no drive recheck for active.

Still NO GO:

Tried:
1)bios, set drives auto and auto primary & sec
2 formated sandisk & fdisk also set to active used Ranish (install command C: format/s )
3)boot from C only and D,C,A,scsi

possible bad sandisk ?

Problem FIXED !

I guess MS Format just will not cut it, used format tool (WD low level format).

format sandisk w/ format tool
install dos
works like a new but, only better : )
