BIOS (IO V1) related to hard drive power up?
Does the bios control initial hard drive activity....

I was wondering if when people had problems with the bios recognizing their hard drive/booting it, would it still power up in the normal fashion? or would it remain rather quiet and not proceed to power up?

I have narrowed down my boot problem to either my IBM hard drive being rather fussy, OR my bios (IO v1). I am not sure if it is the bios and so far everything else on the hardware end passes insepction on other machines...

Am I to asume that the statement about V1 IO not needing a bios upgrade to not be true across the board? I have read alot of threads telling people to just upgrade their bios, but never much of a follow up (EX "that was a waste of money" OR "wow that really worked!")

well I found out its not my bios and with some more tweaking and leaving most everything auto it worked. I believe it has something to do with my hard drive / power. For some reason or another my IBM hard drive doesnt always like to power up...
