Transflective film on the i-opener's display?

This may seem like an odd question but has anyone attempted to put transflective film on their IO's display?

I ask because I've been looking at PDAs to use for a color mapping GPS solution for my motorcycle and 320x240 just isn't a whole lot of real estate. The IO would just fit in the space behind my windshield without blocking my view of the road. It's even got built in mounting points. An 800x600 moving map on a 10" display would be very nice.

Unfortunately, laptops and tablets with reflective or transflective displays are prohibitively expensive. I wouldn't mind risking a $50 IO, tho. :)

For those curious about a Transreflective display:

A transflective screen uses a translucent film behind the polarizer that is used with backlighting to operate in all lighting conditions. Transflective films appear slightly darker than the reflective type and should not be used without backlighting. The Transflective type is also available in the negative mode having one polarizer oriented so that the display is normally dark and using backlighting will have bright characters.

Sounds like you'll be the first.
