memory 256 upgrade

I'm wanting to add 256MB SODIMM to my IO. I'm tired of hunting down ones on ebay and seeing if they have 8 chips on each side. Can anyone tell me model and brand of memory that has worked for them in their IO v5 or maybe even something I could order from crucial.com. Thanks for any help.

I've read all those threads and you got people sticking 4 chips per side 256 in, Centron from Circuit City which I can not locate anymore, and some saying IO v5 is picky as far as the sodimm chip. I'm looking for tried and true models of 256MB besides Centron ram people have used with success in there v5's.

My local Circuit City has them

128mb I have used the 4 chips per side. $29

256mb I have used the 8 chips per side. $49 #256MBLT133

I have 6 I-openers running one of the above two.

I thought the v5 i-opener could only use pc100 memory?

PC133 is downward compatible.

PC133 is fast and can be used at 100mhz and 66mhz.

I have not increased the speed of my I-Openers yet. So all are running at the 66mhz still. As I understand it.

I just returned two PC133 SODIMMs to crucial.com because they weren't stable in my IOs. Whether it was those two, although I normally trust crucial, or PC133, I'm not sure. I'm more willing to bet that it's PC133 that was the issue.

The funny thing is that crucial said they *were* PC100, but looking up the serial numbers of the chips themselves revealed that they were PC133. I just got two PC100 SODIMMs yesterday (128m) and am happy.

PC133 isn't the issue. PC133 can always be downclocked to 100. There is some funcky needs with memory the IO has and many 256M chips overheat. There isn't much cooling on the underside of the chip.
