First IO hack attempt V4? Problems
Won't pass logo screen

The specs of my unit are in my signature. The biggest question I have is this: I didn't have a 19V supply, but I did have a 18.5 Volt Compaq laptop supply that I changed the plug on. I can't get the i-opener to go past the logo splash screen. I am using the pizza keyboard and have tried all the key combos that I have found listed on the forum and can't get anything to work. Do you think that the missing .5 Volt could be a problem?

Thanks for the help!

Voltage is not the problem.

Don't You have a PS/2 Keyboard ?

Have you hooked up a Laptop Hard Drive
with a Twisted IDE Cable ?

I do have a PS/2 keyboard and I tried key combos for it after I posted this thread. The trouble is I don't have a splitter. Some people on this forum say that the keyboard won't work properly without the splitter. I can't find a splitter anywhere local, I may have to mail order one.

I haven't tried a HDD yet. I was trying to make sure that the unit was working properly before I went any further.

What would cause this unit to not boot past the logo screen without any mods? I wanted to at least see the OS from i-opener before I started 'destroying' the thing with mods! :)

Sounds like you're running the stock v4 BIOS. It's crippled, and very difficult to work around.

The stock v4 BIOS won't boot an external hard-drive -- it'll only boot the internal QNX image loaded on the SanDisk; and its image has the root password locked out.

You can usually press <Tab> to get rid of the BIOS splash screen. That'll get you to the "Normal" Award BIOS diagnostics screen (memory check, drive check, and error-messages). Maybe something in there you can use.

Here's what happens with the PS/2 Keyboard.

Plug power up: The power led on the IO blinks on and then right back off.

Press power button: The IO display the logo splash screen for infinite amount of time.
the lights on the keyboard blink on and go off. After about 5 seconds the num lock light comes back on.

No button combo causes any thing other than ctrl-alt-del which causes the screen to blink off and come back on with no logo. It will sit in this state for infinte amounts of time.

Maybe I am just not famaliar with the i-opener. How long does it take for the logo screen to disappear? I can plug the thing up and turn it on and it will just sit there with a dark screen that says "i-opener" for a really long time. Should it take more than 5 minutes for something to happen?

I can't even get this unit to boot the QNX image! It didn't look like this unit was ever powered up when I got it.

I'm not trying to get it to boot a hard drive yet. I am just trying to explore the QNX image and possibly the BIOS.

I get no result when I hit TAB during the logo splash.

Would it be my best bet to just order a BIOS from BadFlash? If I get a BIOS from BadFlash then I can connect a HDD with Windows on it and it should boot correct?
