Random rebooting (even in bios)

OK, my V1 iopener has been running fine for many months has suddenly started rebooting. It normally gets into windows first time, as soon as it finishes loading and i try to start somthing, it reboots. Then proceeds to reboot at random intervals ranging from a few minutes to a few seconds. I have tried replacing both the memory and proc with known good parts to no avail. I have tried reinstalling the OS, no improvement. I have tried altering the vcore both up and down. I am running at 200mhz but have performed a vcore mod to allow use of a k6-2. The unit has been running fine for months with this hardware mod.

can anyone offer any suggestions as to how to fix it?

Does anyone in the UK have a spare working iopener mobo?

please get back to me

maidtina:

What are you using for the main power source?

Have you checked the board voltages?

The original i-o wall transformer was rated at 19 volts, 1.8 amps.

You can check for 19 volts between inductor L33 and ground. L33 is beside the bios chip.

You can check for 5 volts between pin 10 of CN12 and ground. CN12 is the serial port beside the memory.

It is possible that your power supply is failing when it gets warm and can't supply enough voltage.

How did you do a core voltage mod on a V1? You could remove your modification and try booting with the original cpu.

Have fun,

Powersupply is a maplin's universal laptop power supply, its set to 18v and provides 18.5, the power supply is still providing the same voltages and works on a compaq presario 1220 fine. Supply is ok.

Testing on the iopener was done with no other peripherals, no usb network card or hub

I'll crack the thing open again tomorrow morning and take those measurements. I'll also see if i can reflash the bios just to be on the safe side (using latest wild pencil bios) I'll use the same image again as i cannot transfer files to the unit without it resetting unless i take the drive out

The vcore mod was done with a voltage divider and a preset pot fed into the vcore, i forget the details as it has been a long time since i did this mod but it has been running fine for ages. I can use the preset pot to change the vcore.
