I got an i-opener here that has been sitting for awhile. I was stupid and did'nt test the thing again before I went and flashed the bios, now all I get is a black screen. The green power LED seems to work and I hear a very faint sound when I turn the unit off. The unit was working fine a few months ago. Any clues?

Oh yeah, the reset button idea does not work, tried it. No hacks except the bios being flashed to 540a at first, then 540, then 100, all black screens :(

used winflash to do the bios at first, but kept on saying it failed, then used uniflash and the bios passed verification

thanks.

Uniflash probably killed it. Either uniflash, or v100. But honestly, unless the v100 image was corrupted..

Your best bet is to get a new rom from badchips to fix up your iopener, or try the "flash the iopener using your pc" trick.. As long your PC has a bios thats the same size, number of pins, same programming voltage, etc. But honestly, its better to get it from badchips.

I would strongly recommend awdflash, version 7-ish. I use that, it works great. I would be very wary of other flash programs that are not made for award bios, since they can do funny things. In some cases, one flasher is same as another, but in this case...

I'm assuming that your iopener is totally dead, which sounds like it - from what you've written below.

I assume you removed the chip to flash it. You may not have seated it right when you put it back. Don't push it down all the way. These sockets are pretty tempermental. The other issue may be the chipset of the board you flashed it on. If the chipset is not pretty close to what the iop has, the hotflash often won't work.
