anyone know a way to modify (and burn) a BIOS file in Linux, containing a new BIOS boot image? my existing i-opener setup (slackware10.1, 40gHDD) is begging me to get rid of the 'netpliance i-opener' BIOS boot splash, and put something else in there .. any BIOS hackers know the appropriate patch to replace it?

Why don't you just break out a few bucks and go to Badflash and get a new bios chip?

You can use cbrom.exe in a DOS Shell to remove the logo from any Award BIOS image, and then flash the updated image.

If you want your own boot logo, you'll need a bitmap convertor.. I think it was called BMP2EPA or something like that. Lots of info in the old TechRef archives.
