ive recently upgraded my dish tv. i took the smart card reader out of my old box . i have the card to go along with it my question is, is there any way to make a reader \writer for the smart card like i said i have the input assembly. any info would be apprecated.
Back in the day, with specific cards and stuff you could hack it, but I believe since they've upgraded their encryption technology significantly over the last few years nobody has hacked the current tech.

Direct TV is secure, but the Dish Network isn't. I've never heard of anyone doing what you're describing before. I suppose the key to doing it would be to find the schematic for the receiver. It may be easier to just go buy an ISO smart card programmer. Of course, signal theft is wrong and so on and so forth.
