Has anybody ever done a Linux installation using LoadLin? On any machine?

I've installed Slackware using loadlin a long time back - on machines without a bootable CDROM drive or floppy. One was a HP Omnibook 800cs, and another was probably a Libretto 50ct. The details are hazy, but basically I created a batch file with a couple of lines - one to turn of smartdrv, and the second to invoke loadlin with an installation kernel as well as initial ramdisk installer image, both on the dos partition.

Once it starts the installer, there are various options - for network installation, or from a PCMCIA SCSI CDROM, or from the DOS partition itself, etc.

Gosh it is good to hear from you. I was begining to wonder if anybody floated by this board anymore.

I am trying to use loadlin from the sandisk (it is now a bootable DOS drive) to install a minimal Debian distro to the HD to see if I can turn an i-o into a linux based picture frame (win 98 always locks up after a couple days). I am getting nothing but massive errors with every attempt to start it. I was hoping to do the net instal using the modem .... is that even possible?
