| I've installed Slackware using loadlin a long time back - on machines without a bootable CDROM drive or floppy. One was a HP Omnibook 800cs, and another was probably a Libretto 50ct. The details are hazy, but basically I created a batch file with a couple of lines - one to turn of smartdrv, and the second to invoke loadlin with an installation kernel as well as initial ramdisk installer image, both on the dos partition.
Once it starts the installer, there are various options - for network installation, or from a PCMCIA SCSI CDROM, or from the DOS partition itself, etc. | |
