Unusual BSOD?

Hopefully people still read these boards. I have tried searching (which seems mostly broken) and can not seem to find a good explaination on what BSOD looks like (I assume black screen either with or without backlight). I get a black screen with backlight for awhile then if I press the power button it turns off and pressing the power button again will show I-Opener on the screen (maybe boot image for V5?). Is this a result of a weak socket? I assume so because all I have done is remove the EEPROM, however getting a graphic means I must have at least partially re-seated the chip correctly. Has anyone else had this issue?
