a working i-opener suddenly doesn't

I have an i-opener that was hacked many years ago
and has been sitting unplugged, but has always started
just fine. I wanted to use it as a print spooler, but when I
hooked it up to the printer, it hung, so I had to do
a power-button-hold-force-off. I tried to start it after that,
and I get just a black screen -- the power light lights, the
lasagna fan starts, and the hd is being accessed (at first) and spins,
but doesn't sound like it's booting, and the screen remains
black.

any help?

I replaced the ram with the original ram chip
(I had upgraded) and now, all is fine.

Except that ram chip, it must have fried on
the forced shut down. anyway...
