Private ISP

New MessagePrivate ISP (modified 0 times) Wader
OK.. I followed all the instructions for setting up my IO to dial up my private isp. But it doesn't work. I can hear the handshake, but it waits a couple seconds and does the handshake again and then hangs up. Any suggestions??

I've been working with this all day. Learnig lots, just want to connect to ISP..

SHould username be wader or wader@isp.net??

Also, I am using my ISP's dns for my netupHost ID.. and 0.0.0.0 for NTP
Tried 127.0.0.1 and 0.0.0.0 for loginHost0 & 1...

Thanks..

You can't use 0.0.0.0 for the netupHost, because it pings whatever host you have here to see if you are actually up on the net. Put in your Primary DNS machine or something else that is pingable once you are connected. If you put in 127.0.0.1 it would think you are always online.

I tried using my dns for the netupHost and using the original IP, but no luck.. It just doesn't seem to get past the handshake..

BTW, is it possible the hosts file has something to do with my problem??

I am a newbie. Can you point me to the basics of setting up a private ISP?. I bought the I-opener for my 74 year old mother-in-law to send email. Now they sent her to a new ISP (earthlink) without a local dail up. Cute.

Check your password and make sure it doesnt have any invisable spaces in it and that its spelled correctly. That was what my problem was when I had that symptom. There were a couple of "spaces" after my password and they were invisable to me but not to the ISP.
