Hi all,
Having been following this wonderful website since its introduction. I'm located in San Francisco, CA near the Cliff House Ocean Beach. ALL can meet at my home. Looking for enthusiasts, geeks what not to have a fun filled day in modding the I-Openers. I'm semi-retired and free most of the time. Let's work out a time best for everyone. Have 2 I-openers BUT am ready to get 1 going once we locate a slim laptop CD-ROM and cable. Lastly wife is a pretty good cook so you'll be feed well. Let's just pick ones brain and enjoy the hacking session. Thanks.

Hi! I lived at 48th and Balboa in the early to mid '90's; looks like I moved too soon! I've had a great time with my iOpener, running various x86 operating systems off the hard drive and flash. I never did install Jailbait Linux -that was my original goal. I believe it still has Slackware on the hdd; it was nice and stable including, if I recall, an USB Pegasus-chipped ethernet device. Unfortunately, I am now an hour or so away, with a brand-new son, so my time for tinkering has been limited, to say nothing of trips back in to SF -I even missed LinuxWorld and Julia Fordham's yearly visit to Bimbo's! I hope your modfest goes well -you might try calling Halted (either Santa Clara or Santa Rosa) for that CD-Rom drive. I picked up a couple for $4.99 for a box I made for USF's Flashmob Computer (a 5" x 7" SBC, 1.3 Celeron in an external SCSI case + laptop hdd and cd). Pop off the proprietaty laptop connector on the back and you have a standard mini-ide header underneath. If you need it, I'll go out to "the shed" and get the HSC stock number.
