College Station Hackers?
College Station Hackers?

New MessageCollege Station Hackers? (modified 0 times) Khayman
Anyone else in the College Station/Bryan area getting an I-Opener soon? Mine should be in (supposedly) sometime early next week, along with my HD and 2.5"->3.5" converter. I might be driving up to Waco (groan) to get one from CompUSA just to make sure.

Howdy!

Good to know there are fellow B/CS people looking for the thing. Guess that's why I'm number 22 on the list at CC.

I was the first to back order at the College Station CC on 3/13. I have yet to receive one and I get a different story every time I call. They took my money and the only answer is that it will be another two weeks and that I'll be 'one of the first' to receive them. Tomorrow I head down there and become their worst nightmare.

thanks,
tom

Hey, I'm from CS, too. My IO is in Houston right now, so I bet it will be delivered Monday. It'd be cool to get togather and see what we plan on doing with them.

I plan on making an mp3 player for my car. I have the 30 gig hard drive, just waiting on the IO and the IDE cable stuff.

I got mine yesterday. However, the 2.5"->3.5" cable adapter is ####ed up. I figured out that the adapter is not "straight-thru", since it assumes the pins it's connecting to are not swapped, it connects all the GND pins together, making it inoperable with the IO. I'm ordering one from another place today.

After reading a number of posts that CC would not be getting any i-openers, I was prepared to go to CC today and cancel my order. Fortunately, I got busy doing something else and received a call. My two arrived!!! They are the grey units, manu. date of 2/18/00. They have the GOO, but no clipped pins. If anyone wants to come by I'll be working on them both Saturday and Sunday at my shop, Dynamic Information Systems.

have fun,
tom

Hey guys...
I'm not *in* College Station but I'm fairly close by... if yall want to do a regional thing, let me know: rarose2@yahoo.com (College Station is a good destination for fly-in lunches!)
Oh, and my hardcore i-Opener technical page is at http://www.geocities.com/rarose2/

Sounds good! I can easily commute to/from Austin as well. I got mine a week ago. I suppose I got very lucky since I got mine on 4/3, and I ordered it on 3/21. No goo, no cut pins, fully working BIOS.

We should get together...

When should we all get together?

Where?

The A&M Campus is generally a great place to meet, but parking can be an issue.

What do you all think?

I have an IO with a working BIOS, no goo, working IDE, etc. I suppose I could help you out... I also have an IDE solution working if you need some stuff done on it.
