New MessageNashville, TN?? (modified 0 times) Jared
Anyone in Nashville hacking IOpeners? I just got two yesterday from CompUSA and need to remove and flash the BIOS chips. If you've done this please let me know! I plan to use one as a couch surfer and the other in my truck(in some capacity, mp3, GPS?) Also, if you have a local source for the IDE cables I'm interested too. I have one but could use another for the second Iopener. Thanks!

/Jared

Hey I'm in Huntsville Al, about 90 minutes from Nashville. Any idea if Brentwood CUSA has any units left? I have connectors and cable for 2 more cables. One fellow here has a unit with a goo-d bios, but he hasn't tried working on it yet.

Gilligan: I'll call the Cool Springs/Brentwood CompUSA to see if they have any. The couple that I picked up from the Thompson Ln. CUSA have the IDE pins intact but the bios chips are updated and gooed. I managed to remove one of the chips last night and attempted to flash it with my FIC PA-2013 motherboard. Didn't work, but I'm hoping it was just User Error(tm). Do you plan on buying more than one IO? If not, I will buy the other cable off you if convenient.

Tony: are you and your friend hacking the old iopeners or the new ones with the flashed bios? If they are the new ones, how did you fix the bios?

Hey gilligan,

I'm from Hunstville as well. My bro just got me an IO from Chicago and is bringing it down in a couple of weeks. Do you have the old bios on your IO? I'm looking for a way to flash the old bios on my unit.

I do not yet have an I-Opener, so I do not have a bios. I may be headed to Brentwood TN CUSA this weekend. They(bios) are out there, just scrounge the other messages on this board. Someone may soon figure out how to upload a flash tool onto the san disk to backdate the bios so hang in there.

/Jared, email me at jmrober1(at)ingr(dot)com regarding cable.

Mine is an old one...His two are the new ones...Here is the way we fixed the bios problem....took my bios put in his machince. Booted up with Hard drive. Fdisk the sanddisk...load dos 5.0 on it...
w/ copy of the my bios and the flasher...
turn off the IO...put the new bios back on...and it boots to dos....flash away and it works....I know others have said it doesnt work on theirs....but his didnt have any goo on it....just wouldnt see the HD.

New MessageI have one un-opened I-opener for sale (modified 0 times) Jared
I have decided that I don't have enough time to hack more than one I-Opener, so here's the deal; I'm selling my second I-Opener, still in the box, just purchased from CompUSA a couple weeks ago. It has a gooed bios and all the IDE pins should be intact(I'm speculating on this b/c I have opened the other IO I purchased that day and its pins are intact with a gooed newer bios). It's going for $110 which breaks down to $100 for Iopener, $8 for TN sales tax, and $2, uh, about the cost of gas that my 4runner will burn when meeting you somewhere! - in town only please. If no one is interested then I'll just return it to CompUSA, but I thought I'd give you all first dibs in case CompUSA is sold out(haven't checked recently). Let me know at Jared_Dilg@hotmail.com

Thanks!
Jared
