Hey, I got a 'new and improved' I-Opener today, I was wondering if there's anyone in the Boston area who has an old IO that i could use to hot-swap-flash my bios. There's a six-pack or whatever in it for you. please get back to me at bhaskell (at) tufts (dot) edu
Maybe we could set up some sort of meeting where someone with an old IO could flash a few new ones, then those new ones in turn flash other new ones. Again, beer's on me ;)

lil' cred
Just to lend a bit of credibility, I was the one who first posted the bios screenshots that have gotten so many hits at http://www.tufts.edu/~bhaskell/bios.htm

Yea see my post on the ones im selling (if they ever come in) but the point is to try to help people out and meet a few i-opener folks in my area, I already have one myself to modify and I'm interested in working together with people on the BIOS issue for example,it seems that people are having trouble with the badflash bios, according to some posts in tech area

I don't have an old one, but I do have 2 new ones. 1 has a cracked socket, damn. I'd like for "us" in the Boston area to be able to get together and have an "install-a-thon", just like they do with linux, et al.
Just as soon as I order and get the mod kits....

hehe, once i figure out a way to get the image and the flasher onto my IO i'll be sure to try it, but until then, i guess hot swap is my only option.

Anybody going to the comp show at shriners in wilmington on saturday ? The shows aren't very good anymore but there is a "cable" guy that is usually there. we could also meet each other there if there is any interest Also I would be interested in hosting an install party at my house. I have 1: broadband internet. 2: home network 3: 2 I-O's 4: beer cooling device

DKnight, can you give me more info on the show in wilmington? I've been to the MIT swap meet, but never heard of one in wilmington. I'm also looking for one of those new FCPGA 533MHz CeleronII's

Brian,+too+late,
Brian, It was at the shriners off I93, they aren't nearly as good as they used to be, your best bet seems to be on the net for parts but there are other shows coming up go to http://www.pcshow.com.

I thought I'd bring this to the top again , any boston area people interested in getting together for an IO meet ? I have old qnx distro archived and it might be possible to put it on a hard drive for the v3 IO's to allow qnx flashing. any takers ?

Hey Crypto-graphic,
I'm wondering .. I just recently moved from up there down to the bridgewater area, which cc or compusa did you have luck at?, cause I had absolutely none. Everyone was outa the io before I could dig one up anywhere... and I've been following it for quite a while.
I used to reside over on Pierce st., figures they just brought broadband online as I left!!
