My IBM drive worked fine, first time!

New MessageMy IBM drive worked fine, first time! (modified 0 times) Indy
I've read many posts about problems encountered with IBM drives. I have a 1.2 gig Travelstar DPRA-21215, and didn't encounter any problems at all. Maybe the information I'm about to share applies to other IBM drives as well. These instructions start after the bios has been flashed. Nothin' but 'Net at splash.
First of all, I cloned the IBM drive from my own desktop hard drive using GHOST. After shutting down my computer, I transferred my hard drive to the i-opener and got into the bios using ctrl-alt-esc. I let the computer auto-detect the hard drive, but DID NOT change any of the C/H/S parameters. It was detected as C: , so I didn't have to change the boot order from " C only". That's it. It booted right up, and I'm in the process of transferring the drivers onto zip disks. Hope this helps the IBM challenged...

One thing I forgot to mention: On my IBM drive there are two possible jumper settings from four pins. I shorted the two pins furthest away from the cable vertically. I haven't tested whether this makes a difference on the opener, but on my desktop, these jumpers do affect how the drive is detected. Also, the drive only has the one, active primary partition created with fdisk.
